WORKSHOPS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS AFTER THE EVENT (REPLAY, NOTEBOOK AND OTHER ONLINE MATERIAL)
Five and a half workshops are on offer. Yes, five and a half! Workshops will take different formats according to contents and objectives: some will be synchronous, others will use both synchronous and asynchronous methods; some will take place on one day, others will take place over several days. All workshops will take place during the week beginning Monday the 13th of July.
More information for each workshop can be found by clicking on the titles below. Dates and times (Perpignan time) for some workshops are already given; for others there will be a degree of adaptability according to numbers of participants. The French lessons are intended to bring you closer to the French spoken in the Perpignan area, preparing participants for the virtual guided tour of the region (in French!) on the 16th of July.
- WORKSHOP 1: Exploring language using VersaText (James Thomas)
- WORKSHOP 2 (15th July, 4-5.30 pm): Designing pedagogical materials using interactive data-driven learning (iDDL) with multilingual learner corpora (Aleksey Novikov, Adriana Picoral, Bruna Sommer, Ola Swatek, Nicole Schmidt, Ashley Velazquez and Shelley Staples)
- WORKSHOP 3: Direct and indirect applications of learner and expert corpora to language teaching and learning: a top-down and bottom-up approach (Niall Curry and Jane Seely)
- WORKSHOP 4 (13th July): Multivariate exploratory techniques for linguists with R (Guillaume Desagulier)
- WORKSHOP 5a (13th and 15th July): French for beginners (Gwladys Coll and Olivier Douillet)
- WORKSHOP 5b (13th and 15th July) : Rusty French (if you have some knowledge of French already) (Gwladys Coll and Olivier Douillet)
All workshop participants must be registered for the conference. Once registered, particpants can follow all workshops if they wish to (the only limit being the number of places available workshops). Sign up ASAP to be sure to have a place!
